The Disappointing Batman Returns (1992)
While Batman Returns is my favourite movie of all time, it wasn’t everyone’s cup of vichyssoise as Toy Galaxy explained in the above video. Dan looked at the history of the movie and how it put Warner Bros off Burton’s vision for anymore Batman movies (he was brought back for Forever but only as a producer and it was clear they didn’t want his style near any of it).
The main issue? It was so dark. Batman was still a kids superhero and this film—which was a 15 in the UK and a PG-13 in the US—had way too much dark and sexualised humour for parents’ liking. But as a last hurrah for Burton and Batman, it was a good one!
