One Million Bones

Bones scattered on a field in Washington, D.C.

One Million Bones is a large-scale art project created by Naomi Natale.

In 2013, a 3-day event at the National Mall in Washington, D.C. featured over a million handcrafted bones, collected over the space of 3 years. Natale used the project to raise awareness of genocides and warfare in places like Sudan, South Sudan, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Somalia and Burma.
